TOLERANCE OF AMBIGUITY IN ENGLISH PROFICIENCY OF EFL LEARNERS AT ENGLISH DEPARTMENT OF FKIP UNIVERSITAS HKBP NOMMENSEN

The objective of this study is to investigate the tolerance ambiguity in English proficiency EFL learners at department FKIP Universitas HKBP Nommensen. subjects research are 166 sixth semester academic year 2021/2022. Data was gained by using questionnaires ISLTAS (Instrument Second Language Tolerance Ambiguity Scale) and test TOEFL. Those data analyzed applying qualitative approach. result analyzing elaborates findings; they (1) level TOA which high. with high able integrate new information existing schemata, restricting latter. With try adapt themselves according situation have good (2) correlation between subjects’ moderate. moderate indicates weak relation their Proficiency. Even though (moderate) but it relevant into theory those who succeed English. It proved based on number 115 (69.88%) very TOEFL 108 (65.06%).
